Optomi Markets Give Back on 10th Annual Opt2give Day

We celebrated our 10th birthday in the best way…we gave back! For 10 years now, we have been dedicating our Founder’s Day, November 5th, to volunteering in our local communities. Over the past decade, we’ve had the privilege of making a significant impact in so many lives across this country. We’ve generated hundreds of new jobs, employed thousands of consultants for our clients, supported hundreds of technology & business initiatives, fed thousands of under-resourced children, and facilitated economic growth in small towns across the U.S. All with a culture rooted in strong character and core values that cultivate the highest integrity team you’ll ever encounter.

The Atlanta team is so large, they had to split up into several volunteer groups! The entire team kicked off the morning packing TGBash Bags for hospitalized children staying at Children’s Hospital of Atlanta (CHOA). These entertainment bags are supplied by The TGB Foundation, an impact-driven nonprofit created in honor of late Optomi cofounder Todd Black. A group headed to CHOA dropped off the TGBash Bags and spent some time with the kids there. They even cracked open a coloring book or two from their newly gifted bags! Another group made their way to Piedmont Park to pick up trash in the area. The team helped the Piedmont Park Conservancy keep over 40 acres of lawn space clear of trash so people are able to gather in a clean space. Others headed over to the Ronald McDonald House to participate in their Meals That Heal program which provides a much-needed support service to families with a little loved one in the hospital that often don’t have the time or money to prepare a home-cooked meal. The team prepared casseroles for the families who rely on the Ronald McDonald House to get a hot meal on the table. A larger group partnered with Camp Horizon! Half of this team helped organize storage units filled with camping items, kitchenware, clothing, toys, board games, and more. The other half of this team helped stuff stockings for the upcoming holiday season. The stockings were filled with toys, games, clothing, personal care items, and more!

Optomi Charlotte packed 250 TGBash Bags for hospitalized children staying at Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital. They also raised money to fund Thanksgiving baskets for families in need. The team assembled 50 bags of miscellaneous Thanksgiving food essentials for foster families and headed to Youth Villages to drop them off and assist with data entry. This included creating Amazon Wishlists for foster kids!

The Windy City Winners in Chicago partnered with Junior Achievement of Chicago to work with elementary-aged children to inspire and prepare them for success in a global economy. They lead sessions that promote financial capability, work and career readiness, and business ownership.

The Dallas crew spent their day packing 405 meal bags for the children of Vogel Alcove homeless shelter, where they have been volunteering for the past 3 years. These snack sacks called Bye-Bye bags provide additional nutrition when the children are away from Vogel Alcove, helping to bridge the gap between meals. These bags are also used when families drop by with hungry kids, or when a family will not be receiving dinner at their shelter. While packing bags for Vogel Alcove, the team also packed 100 TGBash Bags that were donated to Children’s Health Dallas.

Our Northeast market volunteered with All Community Events in D.C. to prepare for the Hot Cider Hustle in the D.C. area! They assisted with registration for the event by handing out packets, race bibs, T-Shirts and more! The group also partnered with The TGB Foundation to pack 200 TGBash Bags that were donated to Children’s National Hospital.

The Detroit team kicked off their day volunteering at The Power Company Kids where they wrapped gifts for at-risk youth. The program is called “Christmas Joy” and is geared towards creating a joyful holiday experience for children who may not be receiving gifts this season.

Cheers to 10 x 10 more years of giving back!
